00:02:14 Amanda: new moon today
00:02:29 Mareta Weed: Nice day in Juneau, should start snowing shortly!
00:02:42 Bridget Borg- DOI/NPS AK Region: calm and overcast here but with good mountain views
00:02:45 rmydavies: Temps dropped back into the -20Cs again here in Canmore
00:03:12 Lauren Andrews: Cloudy and hovering around freezing in Boise, ID
00:03:30 Emily Longbrake: Snowing & a little breezy here in Anchorage :)
00:03:33 Brynn Seaton: Maryland - high 30s and bluebird today !
00:03:34 Hannah Pratt: Anchorage!! Lots of fluffy snow!!!!
00:03:37 Morgan: Snowing here in South Anchorage
00:03:39 Haley Dunleavy: Snowing in Anchorage! Dena’ina Elnena
00:03:41 Megan Reibel: it's partly cloudy here -- Seattle
00:03:44 Amy McCready: PA
00:03:47 Jennifer: Snowy Anchorage too
00:04:26 Rachel C: Denver, CO- snowing here too!
00:09:12 Megan Reibel: I realized that i am closing out a creative cycle at work and thinking about my tasks this week differently because of it. trying to get the tasky stuff off my list so i am ready to dig into the next cycle.
00:10:35 Emily Longbrake: Definitely in the fertile void time here too!
00:13:34 Emily Longbrake: I decided to track just my hormonal cycle & my creative / work / business cycle - monthly vs. ~quarterly
00:13:53 Mareta Weed: I mostly focused on how I wanted to track and figuring out a second cycle.
00:14:29 Lauren Andrews: I tracked my hormonal cycle and the moon cycle. I’m definitely interested in the moon tracking because I’ve never really paid attention to it before
00:14:47 Brynn Seaton: Creative, work and lunar!
00:15:13 Allie Tripp: I focused on just tracking my menstrual cycle and continuing something i started a few months ago tracking my moods and a few key habits. It's interesting to see the two interplay given the last few months of data I have from the mood tracking!
00:15:23 Ellorie McKnight: Question for Sarah: How do you keep track all the things you're interested in paying more attention to with regards to their relationship with cycles (creativity, energy, etc) ? I know you shared the cycle tracking app, but has anyone created some awesome spreadsheet that allows for tracking and then also you can quantify results (the scientist in me talking)
00:16:23 Rachel C: The scientist in me is also working on a spreadsheet :)
00:19:51 Amy McCready: Perhaps because Eve was disobedient -- that was the central problem that contributed to the curse of pain in childbirth.
00:22:18 Emily Longbrake: I thought it was so brave to share your personal situation! Really appreciated that!
00:25:24 Allie Tripp: This is so interesting Sarah, I so appreciate your reflection and sharing this with us!
00:26:21 Megan Reibel: Yeah, that seems like the best way to go if you really want to crunch numbers.
00:26:22 Hannah Pratt: Yeah, this is SO RELATABLE! I’ve never thought of this process as a cycle before!
00:26:46 Megan Reibel: And, yes, I think this vulnerability makes so much sense for that part of the cycle.
00:26:55 Amy McCready: Yes, you trusted yourself, and us, and trust is important.
00:29:06 Rachel C: totally relate- after really big tough facilitator roles i need deep quiet to recover, really neat to think about that as stretching and recovering and that its a part of a cycle too
00:31:33 Bridget Borg: Very relatable and I recognize the need for those moments/days of recovery/down time...I feel like I struggle when the structure of life...work, kids needs, etc. don't allow for that self care, rest, etc that I feel like I need..?
00:31:54 Megan Reibel: yes -- this is so real bridget!
00:32:54 Bridget Borg: To me it feels like that need doesn't go away but I just keep craving it while dealing with everything
00:33:00 Rachel C: Agreed- this is a space i could improve on, making sure I'm doing my best to forecast when i'm going to need those down times and making sure that I hold time for them proactively
00:33:39 Emily Longbrake: Maybe a cycle of being cared for, caring, and then being cared for again? Being in a sandwich with kids and aging parents / elders?
00:34:48 Megan Reibel: YES!!!
00:36:01 rmydavies: I know it was mentioned last time that the grief cycle is similar to healing cycles but that's definitely a big one. Physical healing and trauma healing definitely move through mini cycles.
00:40:04 Sarah Histand (she/her): https://www.thieme-connect.de/products/ejournals/abstract/10.1055/s-2007-973052
00:42:33 Hannah Pratt: Whoa!! This makes me feel less bad for skipping ski babes workouts when I’m in those lower phases hahaha
00:42:46 Haley Dunleavy: ^^
00:42:50 Lauren Andrews: That study is really fascinating!
00:43:31 Jess Team M&M: I really love the Wild Soul Movement classes for my lower phases :)
00:44:19 Megan Reibel: Even just recognizing that rest is OK and needed is missing from life in so many other places.
00:45:25 Emily Longbrake: Anyone else feel like it's super hard to ask for help or support during this time? (Or to be left alone?!)
00:45:37 Raine Fryberger she/her: Yes!
00:45:47 rmydavies: Didn't find that but I found a similar articles through my university system
00:46:18 Lauren Andrews: For me I’ve been trying to recognize it’s temporary and I’ll look back on that time and be glad I took advantage of rest
00:46:27 Hannah Pratt: yes!!!
00:47:36 Hannah Pratt: I find this is so helpful to recognize this with creativity cycles as well.
00:49:02 Brynn Seaton: Wanting to be alone and slow down, to deeply rest and reflect but feeling “selfish” or “lazy” if it doesn’t align with other peoples expectations of me…
00:49:43 Bridget Borg: Yes, I feel the same Brynn
00:49:48 Haley Dunleavy: I’ve been reframing how I view the rest period and finding the “power” in it. It’s a phase I really enjoy now. Like the darkness of winter, it allows for time for things to marinate. Trying to remove the judgement from it. Sometimes I put these more self-care or “processing times” on my to-do list so I can remind myself it’s still being productive, but just a different type of productivity.
00:50:51 Gillian: Happy New Moon (today!) 🙂
00:51:08 Megan Reibel: i feel like the pandemic has given me a different way to think about the "flow" of my life and to examine what i want from the rest/quite phases and the busy ones too.
00:51:19 Emily Longbrake: Also happy Lunar New Year!
00:51:30 Megan Reibel: year of the tiger!
00:52:29 rmydavies: Okay it hasn't been mentioned yet so I'll be the one to say it haha but also how these hormones and cycles effect sexual drive, libido and comfort is big. Normalizing not feeling into it always and more so during other parts of the cycle has been a big piece of learning for me.
00:52:58 Megan Reibel: YES!!! ^^^
00:53:20 Jess Team M&M: YESSS^
00:53:31 Hannah Pratt: Yeah!!!
00:54:15 Megan Reibel: It's one of the things i am trying to pay attention to in my non cycle cycle -- and trying to gather data to decide if my iud needs the boot.
00:54:30 Brynn Seaton: That has been BIG learning for me too - definitely not on that 24 hour cycle like men seem to be haha
00:56:43 Hannah Pratt: That was my next question! I’m about to go on a bike trip and I think it’s going to land on my fertile void phase this month
00:56:53 Raine Fryberger she/her: Stacy Sims!
01:00:45 Emily Longbrake: My pain tolerance changes a lot too!
01:04:22 Lauren Andrews: Thank you! Have a great night everyone
01:05:13 Allie Tripp: Sarah & Team - Would it be okay to start a topic chat on mighty networks on specific menstrual related cycles for those on hormone modifying birth controls?
01:05:38 Jennifer: can you tell us more about the alignment column?
01:05:53 Megan Reibel: @allie, i would love to be a part of that conversation...
01:05:57 Megan Reibel: how to cope ahead?
01:06:20 Morgan: +1 to Allie! As someone on hormonal birth control, a lot of the "standard" menstrual cycle stuff that's being discussed doesn't feel super applicable
01:08:07 Allie Tripp: Wonderful :) Have a great night all!
01:09:03 Gillian: Thank you all! Looking forward to continued tracking of cycles for the week ahead!
01:10:57 Megan Reibel: i do all things with a cozy sweater on
01:11:08 Hannah Pratt: Haha same
01:11:26 Vicky Clark: Many thanks all. Feels weird to leave when folks have so much to say. Sincerely thank you!
01:11:37 Mareta Weed: thanks for the discussion, got some information to chew on this week and am looking forward to conversations on might networks
01:12:20 Amy McCready: Thank you!
01:12:41 Hannah Pratt: Yesterday I had big goals for the day but then forgot to take my meds so once I realized that I had to lower my expectations of what was going to actually get done during the day
01:13:05 Emily Longbrake: ^ yes!
01:18:54 Amy McCready: Thank you! Many interesting ideas.
01:19:37 Rachel C: related to signing ourselves up for things- one of the new things I'm trying to remind myself of is "everytime i say yes to something, i say no (explicitly or implicitly) to something else"
01:20:29 Hannah Pratt: Yeah! Learning to and being okay with saying no has become HUGE for me in the last few days. I used to feel bad about it but now I feel like “it’s fine because this is what I needed"
01:20:42 Hannah Pratt: It was Rachel!! <3
01:21:10 Emily Longbrake: Thanks so much! See you all next week!
01:21:22 Alice Michaelson: thank you<3
